RELIQUARY PROJECT

For my Form and Structure class, we were assigned to design a reliquary (a container intended for holy relics). In this case, we would be the ones contained in it. As many of my friends know, I am a huge fan of television, but specifically sitcoms from the ‘70s and ‘80s. I thought that the best way to emulate my love for comedy would be to have my reliquary resemble a television that would sit in the living rooms of American families as they watched the sitcoms that I have come to love.

I did research on the designs of earlier models of television sets to look for inspiration. I made some sketches, and then transformed my sketches into this design in TinkerCAD.

The later design included a soundwave-looking speaker on the bottom right, and channel numbers on the upper dial.

3D camp map

Going to summer camp was a huge part of my life. Every summer, I spent weeks in the Appalachian mountains with close friends. Years went by, and I learned the realm of camp so well that it had felt like home to me. For a different assignment in my Form and Structure class, I decided to make a 3D model of my summer camp using laser-cut wood.

The first step was using a preexisting software to layer a map of camp by elevation. Camp is situated in the mountains, as I said before, therefore a variety of elevations are present. Its sprawling landscape also included a variety of buildings and structures such as the Cheder Ochel (dining hall), H’Bima (stage), tennis courts, and cabins. Below is a poster detailing my final project.
